Min Boligjakt

I designed a concept for FINN that brings properties, messages and viewings together. It also lets you tell sellers when you’re no longer interested.

OVERVIEW

What happens to the other properties once you’ve found a home?

I wanted to find out how people keep track of properties on FINN, and what they do with the remaining listings once they’ve found a home.

I asked seven people about their experiences. Most used favourites and messages to stay organised. Some let sellers know, while others removed the favourite or stopped replying.

The concept brings the properties you’re following into one place. When you want to withdraw your interest, you choose who to notify and confirm before the message is sent.

What people told me

Difficulty: 3 out of 5

How difficult is it to keep track of several properties? The average was 3 on a scale from 1 (not difficult) to 5 (very difficult).

Six people rated it 2 or 3. One rated it 5.

Most people used favourites

Most saved properties as favourites on FINN. Several said this worked well when they were only following a few properties.

Not everyone sends an update

Some call or send a message when they’re no longer interested. Others remove the favourite or let the conversation end on its own.

Messages and emails take time

One person called it “email hell”. Another found it frustrating not to get replies and had to check the listing to see whether the property had been rented.

REFLECTION

What I’d test next

I haven’t tested the concept with users yet. I’d start by checking whether people can find their way around the overview and understand who gets notified when they withdraw their interest.
